** The Household Hazardous Waste Building will reopen on Wednesday May 20th, 2020 from 7 a.m to      3 p.m. We will be implementing the following guidelines due to COVID-19:


  • Please remain in your vehicle at all times
  • We will unload one vehicle at a time
  • All items must be in trunk or furthest rear of vehicle as possible

The recycling guidelines below show what items are recyclable and which items should be placed loosely in the bin and which items need to be bagged prior to recycling. 


City residents, call VanDyke Sanitation at 507-442-7241 with all questions regarding recycling pick-up. 


Businesses and Non-Profits within city limits that would like to be included in the new Single Stream Recycling Program should call our office at 507-825-1185.


Rural residents, recycling sheds and/or roll off containers remain in each city for you to utilize.

Pipestone County has a prescription drop off location at the Sheriff's Office in Pipestone. Items accepted include all medicines from households including prescriptions, over-the-counter, liquid, solid, and pet medications. 


Please do your part and keep these materials out of the landfill, the sewer systems, and the hands of minors.

  • Triple Rinsed Pesticide Containers

Fees For County Residents:

  • Free

Fees for Businesses and Non-Residents:

  • $10 per Appliance/TV/Electronic Device
  • $5 per PCB Ballast
  • 50¢ for fluorescent bulbs 4' & smaller
  • 75¢ for fluorescent bulbs larger than 4'
  • 75¢ for U and Circular shaped bulbs
  • $1.25 for high Intensity Discharge bulbs
